Living large: live pitch competition at Fenway

Screen Shot 2013-03-09 at 12.37.52 PMDaily Grommet and Google Apps are collaborating on a live product pitch event at Fenway on March 19. The thing is so cool from start to finish I don’t know where to begin.  We have Boston.com as exclusive media partner.  Tech reporter Scott Kirsner is our Master of Ceremonies.  Boston.com journalist and Hive manager Michael Morisey is reporting live.  There is a kick-ass panel of coaches–IDEO, Continuum, VC’s, Tech Stars are represented.  Hell we even have the CMO of the Red Sox.

Our Discovery team is sifting through the flood of submissions this weekend.  They were at it to midnight last, night when the deadline hit.  We had 145 teams apply…impressive considering that we only held the call for submissions open for nine days!

Why are we doing this?  Because Daily Grommet has been at the center of indie consumer product innovation in Boston for four years.  It’s time to give back.  It’s time to live large with a gigantic newsworthy event.   It’s time to pull people together to support the ten finalist teams with interesting and worthy consumer product concepts.  We can do it like no other business I know, and it is so exciting to see busy and influential people piling on to help.

Here’s some nice Fast Company coverage of the event:  “Want to display your product idea at Fenway?  There’s a competition for that.”

Let the games begin!

March 12 Post Script.  We announced the ten finalists.  Here is the Globe/Hive.com ‘s announcement of the winners, with really sweet short video interviews of each team.
